About Claire
Claire Phillipson
Cert. ECBS MBTER MIFPA I have been working as a complementary therapist since 1993, and I now practise from centres in Stone, Ashbourne and Uttoxeter.
I first experienced the benefits of aromatherapy and reflexology whilst expecting my second child and I went on to study, fulfilling a growing ambition to work in complementary health. I qualified in 1993, working from home and a clinic in Ashbourne. Over the years I've undergone post-graduate training in additional massage techniques and clinical aromatherapy.
In 2000 I was looking at ways of expanding my practice and was introduced to a wonderful therapy, the Bowen Technique. After my partner took part in a trial for the treatment of asthma with impressive effects on his health and I had also had Bowen treatment myself for an ongoing neck problem I decided to learn the technique for myself. I qualified in 2004 with the
European College of Bowen Studies (ECBS) and continue to be excited by its scope and potential as it takes up an increasing proportion of my practice. The technique is gentle on me as well as my clients and I'm able to see more people and deal with potentially more complex health issues including helping people for whom even gentle massage may be unsuitable.
I am a full member of the
International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists and the
Bowen Therapists' European RegisterHaving practised yoga at various times in my life, I’d been looking for a way to incorporate it more fully. Two years ago I discovered Dru Yoga which is a safe, gentle and flowing form of yoga. I realised that it has many elements that complement Bowen Technique and I believe it can be safely used in combination with the therapy to improve the results of treatment and so I decided to train as a teacher in 2009. I’m due to qualify at the end of this year (2010) and plan to offer small classes in the area as well as one to one sessions to clients. Watch this space! For more about Dru Yoga

I believe this is the most effective way to lasting health and well being. If you would like to talk to me about any aspect of treatment or are unsure about which therapy would be best for you please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss things.
Talks About The Bowen TechniqueI regularly give talks to groups large and small, to clubs, special interest groups or societies.
